SUMMARY:Third I-Grow Inside Seminar
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday December 6 World Horti Center is organizing the third ∑-Grow Inside Seminar. With a fresh panel of professionals\, a new moderator and an interesting topic the team is ready to go into discussion on ‘Which tech level is preferred?’ this December. The event is organized in close cooperation with the community Indoor Farming NL and powered by GreenTech and FarmTech Society. \nWhich tech level is preferred?\nOn December 6 the panel will go into discussion on ‘which tech level is preferred?’. When it comes to ‘tech level’ you can think of: dynamic lighting\, automation of internal logistics and data collection and analysis via apps and sensors and how these are used to steer the system. All of these topics are at a high level in the Netherlands\, both in indoor farms and high-tech greenhouses. Not all countries are at this same level though and for those who want to start a vertical farm or greenhouse in one of these countries it can be a put-off. A high tech level brings a lot of investments costs\, are these growers able to get a financial return on this? Or are they in need of another tech level that better fits their needs? \nLine-up\nA fresh new panel of professionals is ready to dive into the topic of tech levels. World Horti Center is happy to announce that Ard van de Kreeke (Founder of Growy)\, Renko Schuil (Business Developer Indoor Farming at TTA)\, Juriën Koster (International Account Manager at Hortilux)\, together with someone of Ridder are forming the panel this edition. The discussion will be led by Lisanne Meulendijks (Global R&D Director at &ever) she’s the new moderator of ∑-Grow Inside. She will ask the panel several questions and brings in those of the audience in the room and online participants. \n\n

SUMMARY:Protein Transition Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:It is very clear that a considerable portion of our protein is consumed through products from animal origin. This consumption is one of the key factors causing current routes for food production to be insufficiently efficient to feed the growing\, and more affluent world population. Meat production is inefficient with respect to the use of land\, water and raw materials and it has serious impact on the environment. With a growing world population and a global rise in demand for meat\, we need to make a transition to high quality protein-rich alternative food sources\, while simultaneously considering human health and environmental sustainability. \nThere are several routes to follow\, but this conference will focus on the two major alternatives\, looking at the short and the long term: \n\nPlant based proteins\nCell based Meat\n\nThe conference focuses on cutting edge research on one hand and on commercial initiatives on the other hand in its different forms and gathers experts from academia and industry to show their latest results and showcase their products and services. \nThe following topics will be covered during the conference: \n\nR&D on supporting technologies like Biofabrication\, 3D Printing\, 3D Bioprinting etc.\nR&D on cell structure\, taste\, texture\, flavor\, color\, nutritional value\, muscle structure etc.\nLife Cycle Analysis (LCA)\nImpact on agriculture industry\nSocial impacts cultured food (consumer adoption\, society\, economy)\nPatent / Legal and Regulatory issues\nInvestment opportunities

SUMMARY:Vertical Farming Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:The continually-growing world populations\, the global trend to urbanisation\, climate change and pressure on natural resources are key drivers for policies on global food security. Vertical farming is an innovative methodology for vertical cultivation of agricultural products in a small footprint\, which can also realize true zero-mile city food supply. \nVertical farms can be built in new or existing buildings and provide significant benefits in environmental sustainability and human health\, minimizing the need for water and nutrients\, and eliminating pesticides and fungicides\, which are no longer needed. Vertical farming and urban agriculture\, if designed and implemented appropriately\, could offer sustainable and innovative solutions for improving food security in a small footprint. \nFocus topics of the conference are: \n\nAvailable technologies – LED lighting\, sensors\, AI\nPlant condition issues like: CO2\, Nutrients\, Irrigation\, Climate\, Lighting\nEnergy Use / Sustainability issues\nFood safety / HACCP\nRobotics\nImproved resource-use efficiency\nSmart Cities / Architecture / Urban Design\nFrom traditional farmer to vertical farmer
